Snowmobile
he Katahdin Area offers more than 350 miles of groomed trails providing for some of the most spectacular snowmobiling in Maine. With easy access from I-95 and an average snowfall of 100 inches or more, the Katahdin Region is a true snowmobilers paradise. The scenery across the base of Mt. Katahdin as you travel through the Maine Woods is breathtaking. The Katahdin Chamber of Commerce publishes a map of both local and ITS trails reflecting changes to local trails (due to logging activities, trail and bridge repair, etc.) annually. These maps are free and available at visitor information centers along I-95, local businesses, the Chamber office, by mail and on the website. The annual trail map includes a legend to point you to lodging, dining and gas.
Area snowmobile clubs are committed to making sure that the snowfall is optimized for the best snowmobiling experience found anywhere. The local clubs are truly welcoming places for the trail rider to get hot food, to engage in the local camaraderie and share trail experiences. The clubs are spaced within easy riding distance of one another. Please consider joining one of the local clubs as dues contribute to trail grooming and maintenance.
