The Katahdin Region Multi-Use Trail (K.R.M.U.T.) has 16 miles of finely manicured trail linking to a statewide network of ATV trails, scenic views of Jo-Mary Mountain and Katahdin, a suspension bridge over the West Branch of the Penobscot River and access to the State of Maine Seboeis Unit-Public Reserve Lands. In addition to ATV's, the Multi-Use Trail is designed for mountain bikers, hikers, bird watchers and cross-country skiers, providing more recreational use for groups.
A spur which extends the trail into downtown Millinocket, offers riders access to restaurants, lodging, gas, groceries and banks. Riders can access Millinocket's Downtown Connector Trail at the junction between the Golden Road crossing and trail mile marker #2. Riders must obey all traffic laws, ride on the right and
observe the 10 MPH speed limit.
All ATV’s must be unloaded at the Northern Timber Cruisers Clubhouse on the State Rd. to Baxter, just outside of Millinocket. This is the only designated trailhead and parking area. NO PARKING is permitted on the Golden Road, per order of the landowner, Acadian Timber. Riders may encounter bikers and/or other pedestrian traffic on the trail so please look out for each other and don’t forget to Tread Lightly. During hunting season, wear blaze orange while afield as Acadian Timber lands are open to hunting. Additional trail useage and tips can be found here. Enjoy the trails and ride safe!!
